Canon has recently unveiled their latest prosumer-level compact camera – the Canon PowerShot G1X Mark II.
The Japanese camera maker has completely overhauled their new digital camera from its design, down to its core elements which consists of a bigger 12.8MP CMOS sensor paired with their latest image processing engine, DIGIC 6.
In theory, this formidable combo should bring performance improvements, as well as faster autofocus; both of which are notably missing on the previous model.
Canon has also outfitted the G1X Mark II with better glass which now has an equivalent reach of 24-120mm with an aperture range of f/2.0 at wide-angle and f/3.9 on the telephoto end.
As you can see in the two pictures above, the G1X Mark II has little to no resemblance to its predecessor in terms of its design. Gone are the Vari-Angle display and built-in Optical Viewfinder, instead the new camera is equipped with touchscreen panel which can tilt up to 180-degree (upward).
Canon has also removed the dial above the handgrip, as well as Exposure Compensation wheel which previously sit below the Shooting Mode knob.
