The Executive Director of the ICT Office of the Department of Science and Technology, Louis Napoleon Casambre said yesterday that around 93% of the country may have access to free Wi-Fi services by the end of the year.

Once fully implemented, it will be subjected to data volume based Fair Usage Policy to promote an equitable distribution of the public service. The daily data usage is set to 50MB to manage the estimated 117,000 internet users who will access the free WiFi service across the country.
The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Office has asked for a P3.2 billion budget for 2017 to fund and complete this project.
