Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that his company will soon rollout the “Dislike” button which some users have been requesting for years.
“People have asked about the ‘dislike’ button for many years, and probably hundreds of people have asked about this, and today is a special day because today is the day that I actually get to say we are working on it, and are very close to shipping a test of it,” Zuckerberg said during a Q&A session.
Zuckerberg explained that the ‘dislike’ won’t function like the ‘downvote’ found on Reddit. Instead, it will allow users to express empathy or show understanding and support to a friend’s sad post. Zuckerberg admits that the ‘dislike’ function is “surprisingly complicated” but plans to roll it out to a broader audience once the testing phase is complete.
