A barangay in Cavite has issued a resolution that bans the multiplayer online game Defense of the Ancients also known as DOTA in computer shops in their area of jurisdiction.
Resolution number 008-S-2015 which was issued and approved by the Barangay Council of Salawag on January 5, 2015, seeks to ban DOTA (online and offline) in computer shops. Below is a copy of the resolution obtained by When In Manila.
According to the resolution, DOTA is a bad influence to the youth and one of the causes of disturbances in the community.
Below are the penalties that await computer shops that violate the resolution:
First offense – one month suspension of operations
Second offense – revocation of business permit
Third offense – permanent closure of the shop and non-issuance of business permit
Inquirer reports that the resolution had been positively received by parents and school administrators. The Barangay Council of Salawag now plans to endorse the resolution to the City Council of DasmariƱas for a city-wide ban.
