Next Thing Co. recently developed a tiny computer called CHIP that features a 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage and runs on Debian Linux, at a cost starting at only $9.
CHIP is a small computer designed to be used by students, teachers, developers, inventors, hackers, or anyone with a DIY computer based project. It comes with a number of ports like composite video, and support for HDMI and VGA out via adapte. It also ha a slew of connectivity features like built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, regular USB, and microUSB with OTG.
In addition, it can run for hours on a single cell LiPo battery which is sold separately. Those interested may also get the PocketCHIP, a portable device which gives the CHIP a 4.3-inch display, QWERTY keyboard, and a 5-hour battery.

The barebones CHIP has a price tag of $9 or around Php400. The more featured package which includes two CHIPs, HDMI and VGA adapters, a LiPo battery, and a PocketCHIP costs $93 or around Php4,140.
