Nikon has just announced its new set of Coolpix cameras which include WiFi-enabled compact point-and-shoots, as well as superzoom and ruggedized models.
Leading the compact lineup is the Coolpix S9500 which sports an 18.1-megapixel 1/2.3-inch BSI CMOS sensor, a 22x (25-550mm) zoom lens, built-in WiFi and GPS, a 3-inch OLED display, and 1080p video recording capability. It will be available in black, red or silver with a price tag of $350.
The Coolpix S5200 sports a 16-megapixel 1/2.3-inch BSI CMOS sensor, a 6x (26-156mm) optically stabilized zoom lens, 3-inch HVGA LCD, built-in WiFi, and 1080p video recording. It will be available in black, blue, purple or red and costs $180.
The Coolpix L28 has a 20.1-megapixel CCD sensor, a 5x (26-130mm) zoom lens with an aperture range of f/3.2-6.5, a 3-inch QVGA LCD, and 720p video recording. It will be available in black, red and silver. There’s no WiFi but it get a cheaper price tag at $120.
Now for the superzoom cameras, we have the successor to the P510 – the Coolpix P520. It sports an 18.1-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and a 42x (24-1,000mm) zoom lens with an aperture range of f/3.0-5.8. It also has a 3.2-inch tilting VGA LCD, built-in GPS, 1080p video recording capabilities and support for the Nikon’s WU-1a Wi-Fi adapter which costs $60. The P520 will be available in black or red and costs $450.
The Coolpix L820 has a 16-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor with 30x (22.5-675mm) zoom lens with built-in lens-shift vibration reduction (VR) function, a 3-inch 921k-dot TFT LCD display and is capable of shooting 1080p videos. It will be available in black, blue and red with a price tag of $280.
As for the ruggedized models, we have the Coolpix AW110 which has a 1/2.3-inch 16-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, a 5x (28-140mm), f/3.9-4.8 optical zoom lens with VR function, 3-inch OLED display, and full HD video recording. It is shockproof up to 6.7 feet, waterproof up to 59 feet, freezeproof up to -10 degrees Celsius, and like the S9500, has a built-in WiFi and GPS. The AW110 will come in orange, black, camouflage and blue and costs $350.
The last one is the Coolpix S31 which sports a 1/2.9-inch 10.1-megapixel CCD sensor, 3x optical zoom, and a 2.7-inch LCD. It is dustproof, shockproof up to 3.6 feet, waterproof up to 16.5 feet, and freezeproof up to -10 degrees Celsius. It will be available in white, blue, pink, brown and yellow and costs $120.
Nikon will start shipping these new Coolpix cameras in February.
