Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi unveiled!

One of the surprising device that was unveiled today was the Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi which is a detachable 2-in-1 laptop.

The Chi is perhaps the thinnest laptop we’ve seen. It measures 14.3mm in the laptop mode and just 7.3mm in the tablet mode. The lid detaches from its body and still run Windows 8.1 in full throttle.

It is said to be powered by a new Intel multi-core chip. The 12.5-inch IPS display has a resolution of 2560×1440 (WQHD). It will also have 4G LTE connectivity.

That is all the details that have been shared by Asus CEO Jony Shih in this afternoon’s announcement.

Asus Zenfone 5 comes with Snapdragon 400 and LTE

Asus refreshed one of their Zenfone this year and re-introduced the Zenfone 5 with LTE, replacing the dual-core Intel Atom processor with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip.

The design is the same as the older Zenfone 5 so there’s really no cosmetic changes.

We don’t have any other details as to the suggested retail price but we’re expecting it would be a little more expensive than the Atom-touting one.

Asus goes 360 with the Transformer Book Flip

Asus makes their own version of Lenovo Yoga and calls it the Transformer Book Flip. They new line will come in 4 models (TP300, TP450, TP500 and TP550) and in various configurations.

13.3-inch, 14.4-inch, 15.6-inch IPS display, HD or FHD resolution
Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processor
Intel HD 4400 Graphics + NVidia GeForce 820M/840M with 2GB VRAM
4GB built-in DIMM + up to 8GB additional RAM slot
500GB, 750GB, 1TB HDD + 128GB, 256GB SSD

All models will run on Windows 8.1 and some will have built-in DVD drive. The thickness of the laptop starts at 22mm (for no ODD) and 27.2mm for the ones with ODD.

New Asus MemoPad 8 has quad-core Atom, 1080p display

Asus is going all out with Intel in this year’s Computex line-up here in Taiwan. The new Asus MemoPad 8 (ME581CL) is perhaps among the first 64-bit Intel Atom Moorefield quad-core tablet to be announced.

The tablet is also very thin at just 7.45mm on the side and weighs 299 grams. The Asus MemoPad ME581CL runs on a new Moorefield chip that supports its own XMM 7260 LTE modem.

The device also comes with a free 5GB Asus WebStorage for life with additional 11GB on the first year. We’re looking forward to that Intel Atom Z3580 chip and see how it performs against the top chips from Qualcomm.

Expect the MemoPad 8 to be priced at a premium, perhaps between Php15k to Php20k and be released sometime in 3rd quarter of 2014.
