Canon to unveil 3 DSLR cameras this year

CanonRumors reports that they just got a tip from a “very reliable source” that the Japanese imaging giant is brewing up three DSLR cameras this year.

Canon 7D

Two of these cameras are said to be under the entry-level category; 70D and a Rebel (700D). Although we agree with their first guess, we’d like to think that the other camera would be a refresher of the 2-year old 1100D. The rationale for our hypothesis is that Canon would want their entry-level offering to be in the same playing field as the Nikon D3200. Here’s a chart to show you the difference between the 1100D and D3200 in terms of specs:

The other camera that is said to make its debut this year is the 7D Mark II. This also makes sense, considering that the camera is turning 3 years old this year. If this is true, then we may expect better processor and sensor under the hood, higher focus point number, better display, higher ISO range and maybe CF/SD capability.

EOS M

Apart from the three DSLR cameras, Canon is also rumored to release a revamped version of their mirrorless camera – EOS M. Although there’s not much known about the immediate successor, we can probably expect Canon to fix some of the gripes that the MILC has such as its incredibly slow AF capabilities.
