Nexus 6P is not immune to ‘bendgate’ issue

The newest and greatest of the Nexus lineup by Google this year, Nexus 6P, has been receiving praises in the international community for its build quality on hand. YouTuber JerryRigEverything tries to test if the smartphone built by Huawei actually holds up in strenuous situations. The result does not look good.

As shown in the video, the Nexus 6P look likes it accepts scratches easily and the front glass is more fragile than it should be. The bend test with bare hands at the end is something to be concerned about.

Then again, this a torture test for the device. Everyday usage may vary, but a few drops on the floor may break your device, and putting it in your pocket with keys and coins might leave some unsightly marks. A good smartphone case will be able to protect the Nexus 6P, so be sure to grab one if you’re planning on buying the new Nexus.

LG fires shots at S6 Edge’s bend test

You recently saw our article that showed the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge being subjected to a bend test (and actually bending and breaking) just like the iPhone 6 Plus, and LG didn’t let this opportunity pass to frontline one of their devices.

edge bend

LG Jordan tweets the following photo with the caption, “Some curves just make sense. #bendgate” with a photo of their G Flex 2 that also sports a curved screen. Plus, the photo itself has a text with an emphasis on the word edge.

As we’ve mentioned before we don’t think that it will prove to be a problem to users since the bend test was done purposefully, unlike the iPhone 6 Plus that bent while kept in the back pocket. Still, LG saw an opening to inject a promotion for their device and went with it.

It’s always fun to see competing companies taking light swings at each other.

Galaxy S6 Edge bends, breaks under same iPhone 6 Plus pressure

The internet goes crazy again for durability tests as this time, folks put the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge under the bend machine to see how much pressure it takes to make a dent or to break it.

edge bend

If you watch the video below, you will see that the Galaxy S6 Edge bends at 110 lbs just like the iPhone 6 Plus – where the HTC One M9 survived until the force was raised up to 120 lbs. Worse for the Galaxy S6 Edge, the glass starts to break as well because of its curvature.

Honestly however, we don’t think that this will pose as a problem to many buyers out there. We’ve seen that the Galaxy S6 Edge can take quite some beating in our reported drop tests, and this isn’t something that happened in user pockets either (iPhone 6 Plus bendgate).

Until the phone actually bends in your pocket, we don’t really think this will be an issue as no one should actually bend their phone this way. If you do happen to get a Galaxy S6 Edge, be sure still to take care of it as we know that it is one fragile device.

The Galaxy Note 4 bends and bends back too!

The iPhone 6 Plus bends, the Galaxy Note 3 doesn’t. How about the successor to the Note line up? The Galaxy Note 4 lands on the hands of Unbox Therapy to do the test of the so-called “Bendgate” issue.

Lewis Hilsenteger of Unbox Therapy is on it again to do the bending for us. If you are updated with the current plague that hunts the newest and biggest iPhone, you’ll be familiar how a mere hand can bend the device. Watch the video below to see how the Note 4 withstands the pressure.

While the Galaxy Note 3 didn’t bend easily thanks to it’s more rigid inner body and plastic build, the Galaxy Note 4 has the tendency to warp with heavy pressure. Good thing you can also bend it back to its near original condition.

It’s worth noting that aluminium (or aluminum for others) is malleable and will bend if forced, but phones should be able to survive our pockets and everyday usage.
