After doing our standard battery test for the entire Galaxy S6 series, Galaxy Note 5 series and the new Galaxy S7 series we compared how they perform against each other. This will give us a better appreciation how much the added battery capacity and OS optimization helped in improving the battery life of the handsets.
The Galaxy S6 had 2,550mAh of battery and it was bumped up to 3,00mAh in the Galaxy S7. That represents about 18% increase in battery capacity. However, our battery test for Galaxy S7 showed 9 hours and 19 minutes which is 26 minutes longer than the Galaxy S6 or about 5% improvement in battery life.
With the Galaxy S7 Edge, we got 9 hours and 50 minutes of battery life from the 3,600mAh battery which is an impressive 2 hours and 4 minutes better than the Galaxy S6 Edge with 2,600mAh capacity. That’s an improvement of 27% in battery life from a 38% bump in battery capacity.
