Apple announces 128GB iPad 4

The reports turned out to be true as Apple has just announced the 128GB variant of the iPad 4 – the largest internal storage for an iPad yet.

There’s nothing much to talk about in terms of hardware as the 128GB model of the iPad 4 sports the same specs as the 16, 32, and 64GB units currently out. However, you do get a massive amount of storage and will cost you $799 for the WiFi only model. If you want the LTE version that would set you back $929. Throw in a few more bucks and you’re on your way to purchasing a brand new 11-inch MacBook Air.

This “new” iPad will be available next week on February 5th.

5th-gen iPad 5 back plate poses for the camera, previewed

Just recently, we reported that a 128GB version of the iPad may be coming. We guess that the 5th-gen Apple iPad is just around the corner as the back plate leaks – and from it we can get an idea of what it will look like.

iPad 5

It shouldn’t be a surprise to most people that Apple will be using its new-found color scheme, seen in the iPhone 5 and the iPad Mini. The photos suggest that the next gen iPad will look very similar to its smaller sibling. This includes the color, the thickness & the less tapered edges. The leak also includes the space for where the radios should be, which will definitely mean 4G capabilities.

sizes

Again, we played around with the aspect ratios and made size comparisons which led us to a conclusion that these images, if real, show that the next iPad will be at least 13.26% narrower & 3.5% shorter. If so, then that means the rumors of an iPad with less bezels are true. We did a render of what it may look like and it ended up looking just like an iPad Mini.

iOS 6.1 goes public, adds local LTE support

Apple has recently released the latest iteration of iOS and has started rolling out the update to supported devices. (iPod Touch 4th Gen and later, iPhone 3GS and later, iPad 2nd Gen and later). The headline of the story, however, is the inclusion of Philippines in the list of countries with LTE support.

iOS6.1

The two major telcos that were granted with such privilege are Smart and Globe. With this in place, here are the things that we can expect from both of these companies following the iOS 6.1 roll-out.

• Both companies can finally offer the iPhone 5 under their respective LTE Plans. Announcement of the pricing is expected in the next coming days.

• Both companies will be laying out their plans on how to transition their current non-LTE subscribers to their LTE plans. Questions such as additional charges, data cap and target completion date is expected to be answered as well during the announcement.

Besides the local LTE support, the iOS 6.1 brings the usual bug fixes and performance improvements over the previous release. It also offers new features to users such as the ability to download individual songs from iCloud and purchase movie tickets with Siri through Fandango (US only).

The update also adds a new button to reset Advertising Identifier. It does what its name implies, it resets you profile in the Advertising Identifier which results to an increase privacy. You can access the reset button by going to Settings > General > About > Advertising.

You can easily check/apply the update by going to the Software Update under the General sub-category in your device’s Settings.
