10 Collectible Powerbanks We Love to Use

Since a year ago, we started collecting nice little powerbanks that are unique, talking pieces but great to use as well. We already have dozens but these 10 items in our list are the precious ones which we also use on a regular day.

Some were given to us, other were token during events but most of them I found and bought locally and abroad, whenever I chance upon them.

Most people look for really high-capacity powerbanks that are bang-for-the-buck (read: 12 Bang-for-the-Buck Power Banks You Can Buy).

I’d go for design and portability. When you’re carrying around a powerbank with your phone, you want it to look good yet able to carry it comfortably and still allowing you about 2 to 3 additional charges on your smartphone.

(1) Valore. This 16,800mAh powerbank was a token during the World of Tank: Blitz event in Taipei last year. WoT painted their logo on it alongside Valore. It has nice, simple design with a rough, sandpaper finish. I believe it’s a white-label powerbank as I have seen another local brand (Airborne Tech) carrying the same design (see their listing here).

(2) This Xiaomi Mi Bunny 5,600mAh powerbank was bought during one of our trips to Kota Kinabalu earlier this year. It comes with its own charging cradle as well and perhaps the whole set is mostly for decorative purpose only. The folks at The Lot PH also carries the Mitu for Php1,000 each (see here).

(3) These Devil Volt powerbanks are rated at 5,600mAh and is the most talked about of the entire collection. The folks at The Lot PH also carries them for Php1,000 with 4 different designs (see here).

(4) This ParkMan powerbanks were originally seen in Hong Kong but last month, we saw a lot of them being sold in Greenhills. They come in two-tone colors and are rated at 10,000mAh each.

(5) Being a fan of Iron Man, we’d grab any chance to get a hold of almost anything related to it (Hot Toys, gaming headphones, mouse, powerbanks, etc.). This one was found by one of our senior editors in Greenhills and bought it for me.

(6) The folks from Spitze Trading are one of the distributors of Anker powerbanks (see complete line here). I really liked this 6,000mAh powerbank because it’s small and light. The IQ charge intelligently detects the optimal charging of the device so it can switch between 1A and 2.1A depending on the need of the device.

(7) If 5,200mAh is not enough, then I switch to this 20,000mAh Anker Astro2 is the better option.

(8) This Emie powerbank from The Lot PH is one that I most frequently bring along with me every day. The flat design makes it easier to pair with almost any smartphone when carrying around in your hand or pocket (it even looks like a smartphone case in itself). The unit has an 8,000mAh rating.

(9) Battle-damaged torso of Iron Man. Got this around June last year in Taipei, Taiwan. It has 5,200mAh power rating.

(10) We have several of the 5,200mAh Mi powerbank and a custom made, etched 10,400mAh Mi powerbank given by Xiaomi last month. However, this 20,000mAh Mi Powerbank we got in Thailand (or was it Kota Kinabalu?) is our favorite among all Mi powerbanks we have.

How about you? What powerbanks do you use? Go chime in at the comments section.

Anker Powerbanks land, starts at Php2,450

The popular Anker line of powerbanks have just officially landed in the Philippines with power capacities of up to 20,000mAh.

I’ve had an Anker powerbank earlier this year, shipped from Amazon and it’s been my primary device for charging my daily smarpthone and devices (has a 15,000mAh capacity).

The ones we got from Spitze Trading are the second generation models of the Anker powerbanks. They look much better than the one I got earlier this year.

Anker 2nd Gen. Astro2 6,000mAh: Php2,450
Anker 2nd Gen. Astro2 9,000mAh: Php2,850
Anker 2nd Gen. Astro2 12,000mAh: Php3,450
Anker 2nd Gen. Astro2 20,000mAh: Php5,200

They also got an Anker 40w-5 Port USB Family-Sized Desktop Charger which retails for Php1,750. This allows you to charge up to 5 devices all at the same time from one power socket.

The powerbanks have a lifecycle of about 500+ recharges and comes with smart output so it adjusts the charging power up to 2.4A depending on what your device needs. Maximum charging output is 4A when you combine the two USB ports. The 6,000mAh powerbank has one charging port, the 9,000mAH powerbank has 2 while the 12,000mAh model has 3 charging ports.

The intelligent charging mechanism means you don’t have to choose if you want to plug your smartphone to the 1A or the 2A port since it will auto-detect it. The power indicator is represented in a circular LED light with granularity of 10 segments so you see the charge at each 10% level.

These Anker powerbanks are available in 5th Avenue, iStudio, Technoholics, Planet Gadget, Tech Shop, Lazada and soon with Power Mac.

We’ll be raffling off some of these units to readers later this week (the 9,000mAh powerbank and the 5-port USB desktop charger so watch out for them here).
