Google rolls out Play Store v6.7 update, geared towards beta apps

Google Play Store v6.7 has started rolling out and it should be hitting your Android device any time now. This update is by no means an overhaul design. Instead this is a pretty light update which will makes it easy to join or leave a beta test from the app listing.

play store

On this latest update, you can now see the beta status at the top of the app listing if you are enrolled in the beta program of a particular app. Also, you are now able to join or leave beta test from app listing at the bottom.  You can even leave a feedback directly for the developer of the beta app. One really welcome feature is that it will also notify you if an app is unreleased or it has only ever been a private beta with no public version.

While this Play Store app update won’t mean much to folks that aren’t in any beta tests, for those that are, it’s a huge deal. If you want to grab the latest version of the Play Store, download and install the apk file here.

Android Games, Apps & Updates You Should Try #3

It’s halfway through June, and a lot of people are already attending classes. To keep your eyes and hands entertained, we have another list of Android apps and games for your downloading.

Timetable (for students)

Ever since, I always preferred writing down due homeworks, exams and other schoolworks in notebooks over any other method. That was the case until Timetable.

Basically, what it does is create a schedule inside your device. It can silence your phones on exams, and your subjects, teachers & venues will be displayed the way you want it to be displayed as great widgets are also available. You can also add in your due activities and holidays as well.

TIMETABLE

It goes on for free at the Google Play Store; you can download it here. There are many more alternatives to this app, such as My Class Schedule, so feel free to check those out too.

Minecraft Pocket Edition gets version 0.7.1 update

If you haven’t heard of Minecraft yet, well, it’s a very creative sandbox game with tons of features. Originally for the PC, it now has a Pocket Edition, available on both iOS & Android.

Version 0.7.1 brings in the ability for you to cast lava and water all over the world, plus Realms is also added (paid public servers). Before that, version 0.7.0 already brought in a lot of updates as you can spawn chickens, cows, sheep and pigs and a lot more.

MINECRAFT SC

Minecraft PE is available in the Google Play Store for Php257.02 here.

Battle Cats

This game easily becomes fun regardless of your age. It’s a tower defense game, and the idea has been pretty much repeated on so many games, but with Battle Cats, the experience feels polished. Besides, who doesn’t enjoy an army of cats taking down enemy fortresses?

Battle Cats is available for free on the Play Store (download here).

3D Image Live Wallpaper

One of the things that look cool on iOS 7 is that parallax effect on the wallpaper. Apparently, Android already has that in the form of 3D Image Live Wallpaper.

3D IMAGE

We’ve tried it, and it does what it is supposed to do very well. This one can be downloaded for Php67.24 here.

That’s our list for now. If you have any more suggestions that fit with these, feel free to tell us about it in the comments section down below.

5 Android Games You May Want To Try #2

In this next set, we’re not going to push you the usual games like Candy Crush or 2Fuse. We have another set of games you might want to try on your Android device, so read on & find them out.

Last month, we had shared a similar, which includes Into The Dead, Shadowgun: Deadzone & more (you can find it here if you missed it). So if you’re quite low on entertainment, here’s the next batch.

PLAGUE INC

Calling all strategists! Plague Inc. puts you in the place of a microorganism – and your goal is to infect everyone in the world before they find the cure for you. You’re going to have to kill everyone, and you will also have the capabilities to mutate symptoms and turn to viruses & bio-weapons.

You can get the game for free, but there are in-app purchases. Nevertheless, you can check it out here.

EYES

Looking to scare your pants off? Eyes – the horror game is here. It basically puts you in a similar environment to Slender, where you collect items and make your way through doors while being chased by a ghost of some sort. Sure, the chaser can use some improvement, but the atmosphere is really chilling for a mobile game.

My anti-virus took note of it however since it has permission to place ads on the notification bar and create icons on the home screen. Check this out for free here.

DOPTRIX

Doptrix goes around for free as well here. The game adds a twist to Tetris as it is inverted, and if you love puzzle games, this one is for you. Imagine tetris – and make the pieces fall upwards; in addition, the environment rotates. It’s a good twist we have to say – that is, if your brain can take it.

ZOMBIE HIGHWAY

We just never seem to get sick of zombies, do we? You might have seen Zombie Highway in the Play Store already since it’s a little frontpage, but anyway, it’s worth the look.

The game is free (download here), and it will allow you, as the title suggests, to drive around in a world infested with zombies. Obviously, your goal is to survive and the gameplay will probably keep you going as it is different from other zombie games.

punch

Aaaand to top it all off, here’s Punch Hero. Graphics may not be the best of its class and it may look like it was drawn out of the Wii console, but it’s a good way to release all of that stress inside you. You can add faces to your characters too, which in my opinion is a great feature considering there are some people we just want to punch in the face.

You can download the game here for free.

So there you have it. Are there still any games you want others to know about? Leave it in the comments section; after all, summer is ending in less than a month, so better make the best out of it!

And one last thing; if you are indeed out there on the beach or some other summer destination and you have a camera running Android 4.2, take a Photosphere and use this app Photosphere Live Wallpaper for free. It works amazingly well and is on its class of its own. Download that here.

5 Android Games You May Want To Try

There are lots of Android games out there that you may have already heard about again and again, such as Dead Trigger, Angry Birds, Cut The Rope, Asphalt and the like as they come from very successful developers & titles. We just thought of sharing with you 5 games we never get tired of, or something we just discovered, so read on to find them out.

Into The Dead

Into The Dead is an endless running game, but it’s not like Temple Run nor Zombie Tsunami. It’s a first-person game where you run across various environments infested with zombies, and along the way you can arm yourself with power-ups and more.

into the dead

Just recently they updated it to work well with tablets, and the interface doesn’t feel rushed and cheap unlike other apps. You can download it here for free.

Duck Retro Hunt

Remember that game, Duck Hunt? Well, they put that into a 3D environment now and more. You basically shoot flying ducks, and it gets harder to shoot them down along the way.

retro

You can bring the gaming experience to your own world as it will make use of your device’s gyroscope & camera through augmented reality mode. You can get it here for free, or you can get it ads-free here for Php47.83.

Vector

PARKOUR! Here’s a free-running game where you try to escape from a totalitarian world. The silhouettes create a minimalist effect and the soundtrack plus the story can get quite capturing – literally. Someone tries to chase after you and of course, you shouldn’t be captured.

You can download it here for free.

Music Hero

We used to be so engrossed with games like Tap Tap Revenge… until songs got so costly to play with. Music Hero is just like that with a little less and a little more. You can add your own music into the game and the notes it creates for it really synchronize with the beat.

music hero

What’s gone here is multiplayer mode, and we’re hoping that someone can make that a reality sooner or later. You can get the game here for free as well.

Shadowgun: Deadzone

Shadowgun: Deadzone is a third person shooter online game. It doesn’t end, and it doesn’t get boring as the game is online-based, and you get to play with different players all the time, even with your friends.

shadowgun

The game has been out for quite some time now, and the reason my love sparked for it once again is because of the 2.0 update which brought new maps and weapons. There are two modes in which you can play – Zone Control and Deathmatch.

If you’re in, you can go download it here for free.

So that’s about it. If there are anymore great Android games you’d like to share, feel free to pitch it down in the comments for everyone to see.
