In line with the celebration of its “30 years of Gaming and Graphics”, AMD has announced the latest addition to its R9 200 Series portfolio, the Radeon R9 285, which is touted to replace the R9 280 as the least expensive of the three Radeon R9 GPUs.
Looking at its specs sheet, the new Radeon R9 285 does have some advantage over the R9 280 like higher memory frequency and significantly lower TDP. However, there are also some areas where the R9 285 lags behind its predecessor; it’s got lower VRAM and a narrower Bus Width.
