It was night of suspense and drama as the Philippines staged the first leg of the semis of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2014 featuring the battle between the Philippines and Thailand footballers at the Rizal Memorial Complex Football Stadium. A very festive evening, the fans were not discouraged by the threat of typhoon Ruby (international name Hagupit) as the stadium was filled with audience roaring their cheers for their favourite teams.
Sending inspiration to the future of football, the event started with a ceremonial parade of the players being escorted by the kids of Suzuki Philippines’ employees and dealers who looked athletic and cute in their football uniforms!
Multiple attempts were done but the high defence of Thailand did not let them who were also not able to score. With the 0-0 ending, both teams were looking forward to battle it out harder in the next semis which will be held in Thailand.
The stadium became more interesting with the latest Suzuki automobile and motorcycle models on display emanating the same power and performance of the AFF Suzuki Cup athletes. On display were the beautiful and high sellers Swift 1.2 and Ertiga. For motorcycles, Suzuki showcased its latest Fi-powered units that are the most affordable in the market today – the Raider J 115 Fi and Shooter 115 Fi.
Outside the football field, Team Suzuki treated the fans of the AFF Suzuki Cup with a lot of activities that will automatically give the latter limited edition items such as lanyards, stickers, fans, polo shirts and t-shirts! The Japanese giant also showcased its latest products with the glistering gray hatchback Suzuki Swift 1.2 and its small bikes namely the Fi-powered Raider J 115 Fi and Shooter 115 Fi, the Smash 115, Skydrive 125 and Raider R150.
Team Suzuki Philippines also treated their dealers and select customers with tickets to the games and refreshments.
Team Thailand was able to secure a spot at the AFF Suzuki Cup Finals finishing their second battle with the Azkals at the Leg 2 of the semis.
