while canoeing

I have both my Yashica fx-3 and DSLR (which I hardly use nowadays) while canoeing that’s why my fiance couldn’t  blame me if I was a little bit scared, and it was my first time to sit in that small narrow boat too.

And yet, being scared didn’t stop me from taking photos.

photoswap 023

Last June 17, i told you that i joined Rhiannes` Photoswap 2010 and she assigned Nicole as my partner.  I received her film last August 30, that made me dwelt in mixed emotion for a bit.  I was so excited, I can tell.  While worrying too much on my fiances` health, my heart beats fast when I saw the envelope and a roll of film adorned with a little note and a cute little decoration on the lid of  the film canister.

It was an amazing experience when i collected the photographs from the photo lab.  I felt the same when I get the photos i took with my camera, they were like mine.  My own.  But they were Nicoles` and I am so thankful for these wonderful photos and this photo swapping experience.

Thanks to Rhianne and Nicole!

Photos above are few of my favorites and they are all photographs by Nicole Eldridge, prepare to be stupefied with his talent even though she told me that she haven’t used film for a while.  Her film photos are just amazing and you’ll see all of them here in my blog.

my sushi (updated)

(I just found out that Maiylah, a fellow Filipina blogger is the girl behind Food Friday, since it is still Friday here and I am so in love with the hospital’s food court, I am joining the gatherings of this Friday “foodista”)

We are here in Toronto Western Hospital since Thursday night last week for my fiance’s spinal surgery, after three days of staying here I already keep a personal joke which I sometimes share to people i get to see almost everyday.  Those people, are those people who works in the food court of the hospital, mostly servers where i get my big three meals everyday.  These meals get me going while watching Anthony at the hospital.

One Chinese guy, I jest, I live here already and that he is already my friend.

So at the hospital’s food court, you will find almost everything like Chinese food, Italian, Mexican, subs, deli and of course, the Canadians’ bestseller coffee shop timmies. And everyday, I look around to see what appeals to me.  Sometimes too, I visit another cozy Chinese restaurant and the Vietnamese restaurant just in front of the hospital.

There are so much food that I realized that I can have a week food blog stint or more, but I am already in my 8th days here and we  never know, maybe tomorrow Ant’s doctor will let us go back to Barrie.  I wish. How I wish.

So that smoked salmon above was the sushi I had for dinner earlier.  I hope, my family and friends especially relatives in the Philippines won’t  worry anymore.  I am eating a lot, as in.

bicycles 3 (Toronto bicycles)

I thought that I will never get to see so much bike on the road again.  I see lots of them while growing up in one of the poorest community in Manila, where I was born and spent almost of my life before I decided to move in Singapore. And I am glad to know that most people in Singapore too, whether they in suit or not ride a bike and leave them just outside the rail station when going to work.  A bunch of them are resting on their rack locked up.

Toronto is no different with the two countries i lived in.  I am so amazed with the countless of bicycles tied up in front of the many establishments.  They are everywhere, hitting the ground and running.  They are part of many a Torontonians day to day life.
