At the JolliTV Launch and the opening of Krispy Kreme Ayala

I was at the JolliTV Launch and I haven’t had my picture taken with Jollibee and the other mascots that had a costume make-over. It’s sad that Champ (the boxer with an oversized head) was not there. Yum was there though and he has a geeky and a techie personality.

Popo, Hetty, Jollibee, Twirlie and Yum

Hetty is still the cheerleader that we all love. However, the jumper was replaced with a long-sleeved top with a skirt. And yes, it’s all pink from top to bottom including the sneakers. Popo’s jumper pants and a hat resembling the carton of french fries is replaced with a sporty outfit. In addition, Twirlie’s long hair was cut off short.

Krispy Kreme Ayala Ave. Opening

Original Glazed Doughnuts

And yes, I was at the opening of Krispy Kreme Ayala Ave. The green and white balloons at the storefront reminds me of DLSU. I was the 260th customer for that day. It has been said that the first customer was in line at around 2pm, Thursday. I like their coffee than that of Starbucks. It has a distinct Krispy Kreme taste. )

Pedicab’s Tugish Takish

Tugish Takish is Pedicab’s debut album that was released in 2005 under Vicor Records. The title of the album is actually the sound of two consecutive drum beats imitated by the human vocal cords. The carrier single of this album is “Dizzy Boy”, the first track in the album. Their music, as Pedicab have put it, is Dunk Music which is equivalent to Dance + Punk.

Notable tracks from this album are (in no particular oder):
1. Ang Kailangan
2. Dito Tayo sa Dilim
3. Sagot Kita
4. Konti na Lang
5. I Want it Now
6. A Stormy Night

The “Hot” Track
“Dito Tayo sa Dilim” is the hottest track in this album. Listen closely to the track and you’ll know what I mean. D

The Dark and Serious lyrics Track
This title goes to the track “I Want it Now”. Some parts of the lyrics weren’t actually sung. Think of a poetry reading with a background music. )

The no-dance Track
“A Stormy Night” is a track for easy listening with a bit of rap courtesy of Daddymaps.

I hope Pedicab will release another album. I’d be looking forward to a new set of songs from them. )

Pupil’s Wildlife

Wildlife is the second album of Pupil and was released last 2007 under Sony BMG. I just uploaded the tracks from the album in my iPod last week. The album starts off with vocals from Diane Ventura with a music giving you a feel of the wildlife. In the second track, “Matador”, Ely Buendia duets with his wife Diane Ventura. The third track, “Monobloc”, is Pupil’s latest single. A music video of this track is also being aired on Myx and MTV.

The next track is “Here I go Again”. This track is slow yet it sounds heavy. In the track, “Talon”, Yan Yuzon takes over the vocals. Try listening closely to this track and you’ll see the difference between his brother Yael (Sponge Cola main man). Again, Ely takes a break on the next track, “Sumasabay” with Dok Sergio taking over.

Ely goes back to singing in the track “Animal Lover”. It’s an up-beat track with guitar riffs and drum beats that would make your head bang. In the next track “Teacher’s Pet”, I like the lyrics part:

here kitty kitty
you’re looking so pretty
but i ain’t got time to know
who’s coming tonight
i repeat, complete the equation…

The ninth track in the album, “Sala”, is their carrier single. It’s a reminder that there’s only one world we live in. The next track, “Disconnection Notice”, is my current LSS track for the week. It’s an up-beat track, hence, “Dis-co… nnection Notice”. D

The eleventh track, “Bato”, is a break from the up-beat and rockin’ tracks prior to it. I like the song’s musical arrangement which really sets the mood for a goodbye-song. The last track, “Set me Apart” is the current theme song of Animax. The best guitar riffs in this album is from this track.

My Favorite tracks in the album (listed down in no particular order)
1. Teacher’s Pet
2. Disconnection Notice
3. Monobloc
4. Talon
5. Sumasabay
6. Set Me Apart

What do you think Pupil’s next single will be?

MixWit Trial

Heard of MixWit? I just heard of it in this TechCrunch blog post. MixWit allows you to create custom music playlists by searching for an artist or a title of a song (search is powered by SeeqPod) and then you drag the songs to an area. What’s good about it is that it determines if the audio you dragged is not available anymore. D Aside from the built-in music search, you could simply add tracks by adding the URL of the mp3 file. )

After finalizing the songs in your “mix tape”, you could put a custom text on it and as well as an image. After publishing it, you could do a quick post at the following websites:

1. MySpace
2. FaceBook
3. Friendster
4. Blogger
5. LiveJournal
6. Hi5
7. Bebo
8. Orkut
9. iGoogle
10. Multiply
11. Wordpress
12. and a lot more

Or, you could just copy a code and paste it where you want the mix tape to appear. )

San Juan, Batangas

House on a hill

Last Wednesday afternoon was really an adventure for me, Sha, Vien, Jhomz, Precious and LG. We went to San Juan, Batangas for an overnight stay. We spent the night at the house of Vien’s grandmother which is located on a hill. D The lot in front of the house is where the film Spirits had their shooting and the lot beside the house is the location shoot of a certain Alma Moreno movie that I cannot recall.

The area around the house is secluded. Far away from the noise. In fact, Jhomz mistaken the mooing of the cow a ringing tone of a mobile phone. D After having a late dinner, we had a tequila. I cannot remember how many shots I took. I drank it without the salt and the lime. I just ate some sauteed mushrooms though after every shot. D After the tequila, I had one can of San Mig Light. Since I’ve had enough alcohol already, I decided to take a rest. I woke up early but then I slept again while Sha, Vien and Precious are preparing for our trip to Laiya.

We had breakfast and then we went to have a walk to have our fresh buko juice fix. D The life there was really laid back. It’s as if the time is being slowed down by a quarter of what we’re experiencing in the city. Then, we finally traveled to White Cove Beach Resort in Laiya.

In this resort, the entrance fee is 125 bucks per head. Of course, the cottage is not included. The price of the cottage is at around 800 bucks. In this part of Laiya, the water is not deep. If you really want to go swimming, you have to go far from the shore line. The sand around the area is not that fine and is not as white like that of Boracay’s sand. Still, I like the poles setup there with flags for ala Cream Silk photo ops. D

I was waiting for sunset, but then there was not really a good sunset view there at all just like my experience in Calatagan, Batangas.

After that, before going back to Manila, we stopped by at an eatery to have a taste of special Batangas Lomi. D Each special lomi costs 30 bucks. Cheap huh? D Check out my multiply for more pictures. D
