The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) is reportedly holding public consultations and hearings for planning the migration from analog to digital TV here in the Philippines.
NTC Director Edgardo Cabarios mentioned that it could take at least 3 years for this to fully take off, but he is certain that the broadcast networks are ready for this shift since it is already accepted by the industry as reported by CNN Philippines.
Of course, enjoying sharper video and clearer audio comes with a higher asking price than the analog TV that most Filipinos now use. This is due to the need of an additional set-up box or digital to analog converter until TV receivers already have their own digital tuners. In light of this, the source states that the NTC will still consider the capability of households to buy these extra accessories.

Digital TV isn’t only limited to local networks. Just recently, we featured smartphones with built-in DTV available in PH so users could still enjoy good picture quality while watching their TV shows on the go.
