Swedish car maker, Volvo, has announced that it will integrate the popular music streaming service, Spotify in some of its cars.
The integration involves putting Spotify services in new Volvo cars like the XC90, S90 and V90. Using the tablet-like touch screen inside the mentioned cars, drivers can directly stream music from Spotify (requires Premium subscription) without the need for a smartphone or tablet.
The Spotify software running inside the Volvo cars has a familiar interface but with some tweaks and additional features like text search to make it easier to use for drivers. Passengers may also use the app from their smartphone to control playback using Spotify Connect.
“Anyone that has used Spotify knows how great it is – you have access to your favourite music, all the time. We are very proud of our unique and custom-made interface for Spotify,” said Björn Annwall, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Service at Volvo Cars.
