When you hear the word Epson the first things that will come to mind are printers and projectors. With the Epson PaperLab, you might want to add “paper recycler” as well as the device does exactly that – turn waste paper into new paper.
The Epson PaperLab is what the company is calling the world’s first compact office papermaking system capable of producing new paper from securely shredded waste paper without the use of water.
The concept is simple but the process behind it is complicated: load used paper in the PaperLab, press the start button, and it will turn it into new paper using the company’s Dry Fiber Technology.
The PaperLab can then produce paper of various sizes, thicknesses, and types, from office paper and business card paper to paper that is colored and scented, all of that from recycled paper. According to Epson the PaperLab can produce about 14 A4 sheets per minute and 6,720 sheets in an eight-hour day.
The Epson PaperLab is expected to go on sale in Japan this year. Pricing is yet to be announced.
