Some of us are still waiting for the availability of Android Lollipop, but Google already released the developer preview of the Android M.
The latest Android OS dev preview is now available for selected devices namely: Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, and Nexus Player. As for the final version, it’s reported to arrive during Q3 of this year.
Some of the improvements of Android M include:
- Chrome Custom Tabs – for faster web browsing and a more intuitive user-experience
- Fingerprint support – it now applies in making purchases for both online and offline transactions
- Android Pay – works with any NFC-capable smartphone to make transactions easier and faster
- Doze – uses motion detectors to determine if the user isn’t using the phone so it could go to ‘sleep’ and reduce background performances
- Google Photos – standalone app that stores unlimited photos and videos as long as they don’t go over 16MP and 1080p resolutions
- Improved Google Now
- Faster Google Chrome
