No, Jollibee still has its iconic Red and White stripes. However, the Philippines most famous fast food chain has recently announced its first Solar-powered branch in the country which is located at Rizal Avenue corner Manila East Road, Taytay, Rizal.
After careful planning and thoughtful considerations, the branch’s franchisee, Andrew Ng, together with the store’s managing director, Bryan Yu, have commissioned a team that will spearhead the project which involved installing a total of 140 solar panels on the Jollibee Taytay-Uptown’s roof deck.
In a statement Andrew Ng said that the initiative is in line with the company’s continuous effort to decrease its ecological footprint by looking for greener solutions.
Bryan Yu added that not only will the solar panel boost their environmental efforts, it will also shave a few thousand pesos off the branch’s operating cost by allowing them to use the renewable power source instead of solely relying on the electricity distributor.
Based on their initial findings their newly-installed solar panels, which generates around 60-70kWh a day, saves the branch 6% on their monthly power consumption. Numerically speaking, it doesn’t seem that much, but it’s enough for Jollibee’s big wigs to take notice of Andrew and Bryan’s initiative and are now considering to implement the same on other branches.
