Today marks the official arrival of Android One in the country. For the uninitiated, Android One is Google’s global initiative to bring low-cost and respectable smartphone in developing countries such as India, Indonesia and Philippines.
As part of the Android One program, the search giant teams up with two of the most popular local smartphone brands namely Cherry Mobile and MyPhone. In line with this, Google and its two partner brands have launched the Cherry Mobile One and MyPhone Uno.
Apart from bringing quality hardware to Filipinos with the help of their partner manufacturers, Google has also teamed up with local telcos Smart and Sun Cellular to provide free over-the-air (OTA) updates for the first six months, as well as app downloads at no extra cost during the same duration.
