A product page from Samsung Malaysia reveals the company’s first smartphone in the J Series. The Galaxy J1 is an entry-level handset that’s modestly-spec’d with a 4.3-inch display and Android KitKat on-board.

The company claims that the 1850mAh battery lasts longer thanks to its Ultra Power Saving mode. It’s also got a Palm Selfie gesture sensor that makes it possible to take photos just by hand gestures. Pricing wasn’t revealed as of yet, and same goes for its availability. Although if it makes its way to Philippines we expect it to be priced around Php5K.
