NVidia has been making a lot of buzz in the mobile computing division with the release of notebook with GTX 970M and GTX 980M for GPU. They’re looking to continue doing just that with the launch of the latest addition to the GeForce 900 Mobility Chip lineup, the NVidia GeForce GTX 965M.

In terms of specs, the GTX 965M is a few notches below the GTX 970M, making the least performing mobility chip among members of the GeForce 900 family. This hints at the possibility of more competitively-priced notebook PCs with Maxwell-based GPU.

NVidia GeForce GTX 965M specs:

Architecture: Maxwell

Engine Clock: 944Mhz
VRAM: up to 4GB GDDR5
Memory Clock: 2500MHz
Memory Bus Width: 128-bit
Bandwidth: 80GB/s
Supported Technologies: NVIDIA GameStream, GPU Boost 2.0, CUDA, DirectX 12, OpenGL 4.4, OpenCL 1.1, GameWorks, SLI Ready, Optimus and Battery Boost support, GeForce ShadowPlay

The first batch of notebook PCs that are imbued with the new NVidia GeForce GTX 965M are already being unveiled in this year’s CES. That being said, we can probably expect some of these laptops to hit the shelves starting on the first half of 2015.
