Similar to what Google has done, Yahoo Philippines has released its own 2014 Year in Review which highlighted the most searched celebs, politician, as well as gadgets this year in Philippines.
Unsurprisingly, the Apple iPhone 6 topped the list of most searched gadgets in the Philippines by Yahoo users. This is due to the fact that this is the first smartphone that the Cupertino-based giant released that is bigger than 4-inches which, obviously, got the interest of both the haters and Apple fanboys.
Another reason why we think that the iPhone 6 topped Yahoo Philippines list is because of the bendgate trend on the internet. Obviously, Pinoy netizens got serious about whether or not there’s truth behind it.
Apple’s 4.7-inch may have got the most searches this year, but the LG G3 is right in there with the iPhone 6 which makes it the most popular Android smartphone in the Philippines.
It’s most likely that Filipino Yahoo users got interested by the combination of beefy specs and crisp 5.5-inch Quad-HD display of the LG G3, not to mention the relatively early release of the handset after its global launch.
The third, fourth and fifth spots are filled in by the , Xperia Z3, Huawei Ascend Mate7 and the Nokia Lumia 930 respectively. Although we were expecting that both of Sony and Nokia’s flagship to be where they are in the rankings, we were surprised that the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5 didn’t make the top 5. Heck, it didn’t even make the list.
The Asus Zenfone 5 and MyPhone Agua Rio occupy the sixth and seventh positions. These two handsets got to its respective spots primarily because of its competitive pricing. To our surprise, no handsets from Cherry Mobile (and other local players for that matter) made the list, instead two of their considerably-niche devices, the Tegra Note 7 and TV Box made the eighth and ninth places respectively.
Rounding up the list is the Apple iPad Air 2 which actually caught us off-guard, considering that it doesn’t have a lot of new features to offer from the previous model.
