Drones have been the topic of debates because of issues with privacy and voyeurism. But it’s that exact conflict that inspired Brandon LaGanke and his crew over at Ghost+Cow Films to make the world’s first drone-shot porn which is conveniently dubbed as Drone Boning.
The combination of breath-taking landscapes, beautifully-timed aerial shots, and obligatory sensual music makes this almost three-and-half-minute-long film looked more like a clip from a NatGeo than your typical too-close-for-comfort porn.
Even LaGanke and his partner John Carlucci seem to agree with our observation. During an interview, LaGanke told Motherboard that he “would never shoot a real porn like this”. “If you can’t masturbate to it, man, it’s not a good pornography film,” he adds.
For his part, Carlucci said that they “wanted to see the artistic value of this perspective.” He continued “It’s an omniscient point of view, really. We did these shots in places where you couldn’t see much from the ground, but then you put a drone in the air and you can see what’s happening.”
Apart from getting in trouble with the local authorities while shooting the beach scene, Carlucci said that everything went smoothly during the shoot. “The rest was pretty easy, we got into a routine and had a good team that was fluid with the execution.”
With the help of their kick-ass drone, the team was able to shoot the film using a Panasonic GH4 – a videography-centric mirrorless camera that can shoot 4K videos right off the bat.
