Yesterday, we’ve posted iPhone 6 Plus had bendgate, Note 4 now has gapgate – in which initial users of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 have complained of a significant gap seen between the device’s frame and its display which is wide enough to insert cards and the like. Samsung has released an official statement and pointed out that it is a needed design feature.
First official statement of Samsung:
“The reported issue does not impact the functionality or quality of the Galaxy Note 4. We assure our customers that all Galaxy Note 4 units meet our strict manufacturing and quality control standards.”
After that, the company released another entry that addresses the issue in the manual of the Note 4. Right in the troubleshooting section, it reads:
A small gap appears around the outside of the device case
- This gap is a necessary manufacturing feature and some minor rocking or vibration of parts may occur.
- Over time, friction between parts may cause to expand slightly.
So basically, what Samsung is saying is that the Note 4 really has the tendency to have a gap in their device. We’re not entirely sure why it’s a “needed” feature and if this should pacify the current owners experiencing this, but as we’ve mentioned before it could potentially lead to dust and other elements penetrating the inside of the phablet.
Hopefully, Samsung can still improve on this so-called feature before it makes its worldwide availability.
