Apple had a lot of announcements today, relevant to consumers, journalists, developers and people in the industry altogether. With that said, we summarize the whole event into 7 things – 7 things you need to know about Apple’s September event 2014.
1. The iPhone 6 has been announced and it has a new design with better software, faster internals, an improved camera, a Retina HD display and more, proving it to be a worthy upgrade.
2. There’s another iPhone, and it’s surprisingly a larger iPhone 6 called the iPhone 6 Plus with a 5.5-inch display and better screen resolution. It’s also $100 more expensive than the iPhone 6.
3. iOS 8 is coming to the following devices on September 17 for free:
- iPhone 4S
- iPhone 5
- iPhone 5C
- iPhone 5S
- iPod Touch 5th Gen
- iPad 2
- iPad Mini
- iPad with Retina Display
- iPad Mini with Retina Display
- iPad Air
4. Apple is aiming to replace your credit card with Apple Pay via NFC enabled devices, Touch ID and Passbook, but it won’t be for the Philippine market just yet.
5. Next gen games with Metal are coming to iOS very soon with improved graphic performance – and it can run on resolutions higher than some of those of game consoles.
6. The iWatch exists and has been announced as the Apple Watch. It has a new way of navigating the smartwatch with a digital crown, and it has everything you’d expect from a smartwatch coming from Apple.
7. No word on local pricing and availability yet, but the iPhones will be available as soon as the 19th in places such as Hong Kong. As for the Watch, we will have to wait for 2015. So far, the soonest we can get is iOS 8.
Apart from what is mentioned above, Apple highlighted WatchKit for developers, the individual features of each device (and even a time allotted for landscape orientation) and a lot more.
