Samsung and Barnes and Noble have teamed up to create the Galaxy Tab 4 Nook, a combination of Samsung’s Android tablet and Barnes & Noble’s eReader.
The result is a 7-inch Android 4.4 Kitkat tablet with the same hardware specs as the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 running a customized version of Nook software.
The Galaxy Tab 4 Nook uses a 1.2GHz Marvell quad-core processor with 1.5GB RAM and 8GB internal storage (up to 32GB via microSD).
The 7-inch TFT screen has a 1280×800 pixel resolution, has WiFi and Bluetooth included and a 4,000mAh battery that could last up to 10 hours of video playback.
Barnes and Noble has stopped creating their own hardware for some time now and this partnership with Samsung could be a permanent strategy moving forward.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook is available in all Barnes and Noble retail stores and online for $179 after rebates.
