Manchester United will wear its new Chevrolet-branded shirt for the first time during the club’s Chevrolet Cup match against the L.A. Galaxy on Wednesday (July 23) PT at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. To celebrate, Chevrolet today announced it will offer a free livestream of the match to fans around the world at www.ChevroletFC.com.
“Seeing our partnership with Manchester United come to life in a match is a proud moment for the brand and we want to share it with the club’s 659 million followers around the world,” said Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president, Chevrolet Marketing. “The free livestream is just one example of how Chevrolet will utilize this partnership and our ‘What Do You #PlayFor?’ campaign to bring fans closer to this great sport and help them celebrate the passion for play.”
The livestream and match begin at 10:30am Thursday (July 24) in Philippine time.
Chevrolet kicked off its seven-year shirt sponsorship with Manchester United on July 7 by inviting fans around the world to upload photos of themselves wearing a digital version of the new shirt at www.ChevroletFC.com, and share it via their social channels.Chevrolet also released a video on www.ChevroletFC.com featuring Manchester United players, legends and fans paying homage to the history of the club’s shirts. The video has been viewed more than 3 million times by Manchester United fans around the world.
In March, Chevrolet launched “What Do You #PlayFor?,” aglobal campaign to inspire football fans and make lasting impacts in places where play is needed. As part of this campaign, Chevrolet hosted a Manchester United Soccer School (MUSS) clinic July 20 at the StubHub! Center in Carson, Calif. The clinic included 32 children from Los Angeles-area youth soccer teams working with MUSS coaches on a variety of skills and techniques.
Chevrolet will continue to celebrate its debut on the new Manchester United shirt over the next month. On Aug. 2, Chevrolet will serve as thepresenting sponsor of Manchester United’s first ever match in Michigan, at the University of Michigan’s “Big House” in Ann Arbor vs. Real Madrid. The match is part of the 2014 Guinness International Champions Cup (ICC) and will be played in Michigan Stadium, the largest stadium in the United States.
Chevrolet also is planning a memorable moment for fans at Manchester United’s 2014-15 opening Premier League match on Aug. 16 at Old Trafford against Swansea City FC.
