Last night, Nokia Philippines hosted a small Christmas dinner to members of the media and bloggers where they introduced the new line of Lumia and Asha phones. We came home winning a new Lumia 1520 which we immediately unboxed.
The last time we saw the Lumia 1520 was during the global launch in Abu Dhabi back in October.
The Lumia 1520 is set to be released in the Philippines sometime in January 2014 although we’re still guessing what the suggested retail price would be.
The second time around, the Lumia 1520 looks much more stunning. The ClearBlack display and full HD resolution is very clear and crisp, highlighted by the 6-inch Gorilla Glass display.
It’s also very thin and feels a bit hefty, but that’s to be expected. The unibody design is covered in glossy polycarbonate material that looks and feels very premium (although it’s also a fingerprint and smudge-magnet).
Nokia has also leveled-up and made the internal hardware at par with all of the flagship handsets in the market (specifically the Android market).
Nokia Lumia 1520 specs:
6-inch ClearBlack Display @ full HD 1920×1080 pixels
Gorilla Glass 2
Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.2GHz quad-core processor
Adreno 330 Graphics
2GB RAM
32GB internal storage
64GB via microSD
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, ac
LTE 150/50 mbps, DC-HSPA 42mbps
Bluetooth 4.0 LE
GPS w/ aGPS, GLONASS
20MP PureView rear camera, dual LED flash
1.2MP front-facing camera
Li-Ion 3,400mAh battery
Windows Phone 8
162.8 x 85.4 x 8.7mm (dimensions)
209 grams (weight)
The Lumia 1520 is certainly, and by far, the most promising the nicest-looking Windows Phone handset ever. Large, full HD display, top of the line processor, huge battery capacity, much faster LTE support, and the 20-megapixel PureView camera.
Nokia Philippines is set to officially launch the Lumia 1520 this January 2014 though they have not shared the retail price yet. Watch out for our full review in a week.
