Coming over for the Pinoy Gaming Festival, Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan visits the Philippines. We got our chance to interview the Chief Gamer and we got a lot of insights on what Razer’s plans are for the future & for its Filipino gamers out there.
Razer reinstated their love for gaming & product design many times in our exclusive interview. When asked about the business, Min joked about not focusing or knowing anything about the business at all. That exactly follows their creed – it’s about creating the best products for gamers, by gamers.
With that said anyway, Min answered that Razer won’t be making any affordable alternatives to products such as the $1,799 Blade (near Php80k). Not that they don’t want to, but because perfection, as they say, really comes at a high cost.
“It’s not that we don’t want be affordable so to speak, but I think it’s been our design ethos to build no-compromise products…”
As for the Edge, the Core i7 8GB RAM packing tablet at $1,499 (near Php65k), Razer said that it won’t face a Haswell refresh anytime soon. That leaves everyone stuck with the current option, but nevertheless it’s still the most powerful tablet out there that you can buy.
We also asked about if Razer’s entering the mobile industry with a gaming smartphone, devices with ARM CPUs & the like and they just simply said that they don’t talk about it. That opens a lot of doors for speculations and possibilities now, doesn’t it?
Anyway, the full 16-minute interview is down below and it also covers topics from virtual reality gaming & wearable technology to peripherals & Min’s favorite colors. We suggest you go watch that below:
Oh, and if this page gets a million likes on Facebook, Min says that they WILL build a Razer Toaster.
