Last month, we reported about the Liquid C1 which is Acer’s first smartphone to be powered by an Intel Atom processor. We finally got our hands on one so check out our first impressions after the break.
The Acer Liquid C1 is actually the first Intel-based Android smartphone to be marketed here in the Philippines. It has a 4.3-inch qHD (540 x 960) display with a good pixel density of 256 ppi. Although it utilizes an IPS technology the viewing angles are not as good as the ones found on most high-end smartphones. On the plus side, the display is sharp and has good color reproduction.
Found on top of the display is the metallic earpice and VGA front-facing camera. Down below are three capacitive buttons and microphone. Surrounding the glass is the bezel with a ceramic-like finish and a curved chamfer similar to the one found on the Lenovo A800. The sides, on the other hand, are covered in a silver chrome strip. Located on the left side is the microUSB port. On the right is the volume rocker. The headset jack and power/lock button right on top.
Take a look of it’s backside and you’ll notice the dimpled backplate with a rubber-like finish. Also found here is the 8 megapixel AF camera with LED flash, the Acer and Intel logo, and the speaker. Overall, the Liquid C1 feels solid while the textured back feels good in the hands and adds some extra grip.
As for the OS, the Liquid C1 currently runs Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. No word on Jellybean update yet but judging from our quick hands-on, the single-core 1.2GHz Atom Z2420 Lexington processor and 1GB of RAM did well in keeping things running smoothly. Watch the quick hands-on video below:
