Samsung Galaxy Express brings LTE to everyone

Announced in Korea back in January, the Galaxy Express is Samsung’s way to bring LTE to everyone. That means, a fairly capable handset that’s almost similar to the Galaxy S3 with a wide variety of LTE support at a more affordable price.

The Samsung Galaxy Express sits between the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy S3 Mini. LTE support for 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz and 2600MHz ensures that a lot of carriers will be able to carry it.

The variant they announced back in January only has a dual-core processor and 5MP camera but the one they launched here in Jakarta yesterday is slightly better with a quad-core chip and 8MP camera.

Samsung Galaxy Express specs:
4.5-inch Super AMOLED+ display @ 480×800 pixels, 207ppi
1.2GHz quad-core processor
1GB RAM
8GB internal storage
up to 32GB via microSD card
HSPA+, 4G LTE (800/900/1800/2600)
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 4.0
MHL
GPS w/ aGPS
8MP rear camera
1.3MP front-facing camera
Li-Ion 2,000mAh battery
Android 4.1.2 Jellybean
132.2 x 69.1 x 9.3mm (dimensions)
139.1 grams (weight)

I think they dropped the NFC on this one though.

Since both Smart and Globe supports LTE band 1800MHz, we think Samsung will be able to bring this handset in the Philippines and offering it just a little above the price point of the Galaxy S3 Mini.

We asked Samsung reps about the release and availability of the unit and they indicated it could be sometime in March (as usual, that’s still subject to customs approval).
