An image of what is reported to be ASUS’s upcoming 7-incher called the ‘Fonepad‘ has leaked online, showcasing call and text capabilities and powered by an Intel processor.
No, it’s not a phone that docks into a tablet like the Padfone, instead it is a tablet that also functions as a phone. Aside from the call and text functions, Tablet.bg reports that the upcoming tablet sports a 7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 which equates to a pixel density of 216ppi – same resolution as the ASUS Nexus 7. What’s notable here though is the Intel Atom Z2420 processor running under its aluminum body.
Other features include a PowerVR SGX540 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 3 megapixel rear camera, 1.2 megapixel front-facing, 8/16/32GB of internal memory, microSD card support, 4,270mAh battery, 3G and WiFi connectivity, and Android 4.1 Jellybean.
As for availability and pricing, the Fonepad is reported to launch in Q2 in Bulgaria with a price tag of 500 to 600 Lev or around Php14k to 17k.
