I have been hosted by Web Hosting Buzz (WHB) since early 2007. I was searching for cheap hosting when I read some recommendations over the web about their service. I tried their service and got the Shared Hosting first which costed me around $35 per year. What has lured me more to their service before was the free setup for all accounts. I was hosted by a free host before I was hosted by them. So, transferring hosts can be a problem especially that some hosts require you a one-time setup fee or do not offer a free setup for all transfer accounts. With WebhostingBuzz, I didn’t have problems with the account transfer because their staff did all of it to me.
The uptime was good, however, when my websites were getting overwhelming traffic, especially this blog resulting to server abuse, I had to upgrade to Business Hosting, which is a semi-dedicated hosting service to avoid account suspensions. I was satisfied with their service since then.
WHB also has excellent technical support. Besides their 24/7 online chat support, submitted tickets are also responded to within 12 hours of posting.
Before deciding to upgrade my Shared Hosting account to their semi-dedicated hosting plan, I was looking for VPS hosting first. Too bad, they were not offering VPS hostings plans at that time. So I was host-hopping and found similar dilemmas:
1. They were all costly (around $50-$100/month). I was barely earning that amount per month.
2. Most do not offer free setup of accounts. So imagine if you have a 10GB-size of website and files that should be transferred to the new service, with a bit slow connection that may break during the transfer process, and you have to do all of these by yourself. That’s quite tedious. Unless you want to pay an additional 50 bucks or more for the setup alone.
3. Some have poor technical support. It took them 24 hours to answer some of my inquiries.
Luckily for me, I have not encountered these problems with Web Hosting Buzz. So now that they are offering VPS Hosting, I might upgrade my semi-dedicated hosting. What’s the difference, you ask. Semi-dedicated hosting is shared hosting, although the accounts within a server is limited to ensure its optimum performance and good uptime for all accounts. VPS hosting is not shared. It’s a virtual private server as it stands for.
VPS (Virtual Private Servers) offer many advantages over regular shared hosting including full root access, the ability to create reseller accounts and importantly, they are fully secured and are not affected by other users on the server.
WebhostingBuzz has launched their VPS hosting plans just recently at a very cheap price of $34.95 per month. Every VPS comes with:
- Semi-Managed with 24×7 unlimited support
- “Hermes” anti-spam protection

- 8 CPU Xeon 5410 servers with 12GB RAM and SATA2 RAID5 disks
