APEC gets up to 8.5Gbps connection from PLDT

Asia-Pacific Economic Council (APEC) meetings in Metro Manila are in for a treat from the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) as the telecom-giant in the Philippines will provide up to 8.5Gbps of internet connection for the 8,000 delegates of the said event.

As said in a press release posted on the company’s website, the key areas of the summit in Manila has been furnished with fast internet. Starting off with the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), PLDT is giving 3Gbps of fiber connectivity with 100 units of top-notch access points throughout the area. International and local media at the nearby World Trade Center, on the other hand, can get access to through PLDT’s I-Gate service.

Even when not in meetings, delegates can use their hotel’s Wi-Fi service seamlessly as PLDT gives a boost to their services of up to 100Mbps.

As for consumers, PLDT has started offering 1Gbps service to select areas as they continue to roll out next-generation internet speed with their fiber network.
