Users of web version of Microsoft’s Outlook will see some additional features that will deliver Facebook-like and Twitter-like experience in their email.
Simply hit on the thumbs-up icon in the reading pane to Like an email. This will then send a notification to the sender that you liked their message. Same will happen if someone liked sent email.
The Mention feature works the same way as Twitter. Just add the @ symbol in your email body and type in the name of the contact. A frequent list also pops up to help you find the person you wish to mention.
When mentioned, an @ flag in your inbox will show up. Messages with mentions can also be sorted out for quicker response.
The Like feature is already ongoing for Office 365 First Release subscribers whose Office 365 plan includes Exchange Online while the Mention feature will begin mid-October. For 0ffice 365 commercial subscribers will have the feature in late October and mid-November respectively.
Outlook.com users will have both features before the end of 2015.
