With over a dozen variants of the Asus Zenfone, we looked over most of them and measured their battery life and compared it to their performance as measured by our standard benchmarks.
Just as we suspected, the chart below shows a correlation between the two.
Configuration | Battery | Battery Life | Antutu Score | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Zenfone C | 1GB RAM, 8GB storage Z2520 1.2GHz dual-core | 2,100mAh | 4 hours, 20 minutes | 18,775 |
ZenFone 2 ZE500CL | 2GB RAM, 16GB storage Z2560 1.6GHz, 2500mAh | 2,500mAh | 5 hours, 58 minutes | 23,231 |
Zenfone 2 ZE551ML | 4GB RAM, 64GB storage Z3580 2.3GHz | 3,000mAh | 6 hours, 56 minutes | 45,029 |
Zenfone 2 ZE551ML | 2GB RAM, Z3560 1.8GHz | 3,000mAh | 7 hours, 7 minutes | 39,537 |
Zenfone 2 ZE500ML | 2GB RAM, 16GB storage Z3560 1.8GHz | 3,000mAh | 8 hours, 6 minutes | 41,968 |
Zenfone Selfie ZD551KL | 3GB RAM, 32GB storage Snapdragon 615 | 3,000mAh | 9 hours, 20 minutes | 26,113 |
Zenfone 2 Laser ZE550KL | 2GB RAM, 16GB storage 5.5" Full HD display Snapdragon 410 | 3,000mAh | 12 hours, 31 minutes | 22,332 |
The general trend is that the higher the performance of the handset, the lower is the expected battery life.
The inverse correlation is evident with the Zenfone 2 Laser which topped the battery life ranking at 12 hours, 31 minutes. It has the same 3,000mAh battery as most other Zenfones but since it is only running a Snapdragon 410, optimal battery consumption is achieved.
The Snapdragon 615 fared well too. On the contrary, the ones running the fastest Intel Z3580 processors are the ones that eat up a lot of juice.
