Samsung releases a list of their devices that would soon be updated with the newly-announced Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Is your device included?
Below are the initial devices to receive the latest software update from Google:
- Samsung Galaxy Note 5
- Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+
- Samsung Galaxy S6
- Samsung Galaxy S6 Duos
- Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
- Samsung Galaxy Note 4
- Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Duos
- Samsung Galaxy Note Edge
- Samsung Galaxy ALPHA
- Samsung Galaxy Tab A
As you probably have noticed, the company’s Galaxy S5 isn’t included on the list despite its undoubtedly capable internals. But, as Tech Times reports, the reason could be because the company wants potential buyers to see the new S6 and be attracted to it due to its Android M software, in contrast to also updating the Galaxy S5 (we already know how the S6’s lack of expandable storage and non-removable battery turned off a lot of people).
If they would give the S5 new OS then users might no longer upgrade to S6 or S6 Edge+.
Still, this doesn’t mean we won’t see the S5 with Android M since the previous Galaxy S4 eventually got Android Lollipop after a while. Expect Samsung to update their list of devices in time. Meanwhile if you want to know the benefits of Android M on Samsung’s devices, you may check out the company’s infographic on it.
