Google‘s Sundar Pichai makes it official that Maps will soon be available to be used and enjoyed even when you don’t have Internet connection.
Although we currently can already save a specific area to be usable offline, the upcoming update will let users access the major features of the app including turn-by-turn directions and voice navigation instructions — all while staying offline.
This new feature is directed to users in developing countries that still have intermittent or expensive (both experienced here in the Philippines) data connection. It will be available later this year with no specific date mentioned.
