Following the debut of the COMET (City Optimized Managed Electric Transport) e-jeepney in Quezon City, the e-tricycles, also known as the E-Trikebayan, are now plying the streets of Mandaluyong City.
The E-Trikebayan was developed by EV Wealth, a subsidiary of Guevent Investments and Development Corporation (GIDC). These e-tricycles are powered by Lithium Ion batteries and are capable of traveling up to 40 km on a single charge. It has a maximum speed of up to 50 kph and can carry six passengers.
Unlike the COMET e-jeepney that charges via a 220-voltage power outlet, the E-Trikebayan uses a battery charging/swapping model for safe and fast charging. The E-Trike driver just have to visit a battery-swapping outlet within his area and have the depleted battery replaced for a fully-charged one in less than 5 minutes.
