Mobile virtual reality, powered by our Galaxy Note 4. That’s how Samsung is positioning this rather interesting Oculus Rift head gear.
The actual name is actually the “Samsung Gear VR Innovator’s Edition powered by Oculus”.
This rather odd model of the Oculus Rift uses the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 fitted into the posterior as the high-definition display.
It has a 96-degree field of vision with a 20ms latency on image processing.
The Gear VR is basically just a shell for the Note 4 so you’d have to have both in order to enjoy the benefits. Samsung has partnered with a lot of film studios, VOD and game developers to provide content for the Note 4 paired with the Gear VR.
