The Aspire Switch 10 is Acer’s multi-mode Windows 8.1-powered hybrid netbook that features a 10-inch touchscreen display, detachable keyboard, and an Intel Atom Z3745 quad-core CPU. Read our first impressions of the Switch 10 after the break.
The Switch 10 is one of those tablet-slash-netbook devices that comes with a keyboard dock. Like the ASUS Transformer Book T100, it is a full functioning netbook but can easily become a tablet by simply detaching itself from the dock. However, the Switch 10 has the advantage by offering four different modes instead of two.
Aesthetic-wise, the Switch 10 isn’t exactly the type of device that you would describe as sexy or sleek. The design is not that fluid and uses a messy combination of straights and curves like its made of multiple parts slapped together.
Although not that streamlined, the Switch 10 is sturdy, well-made, and feels better on hand compared to the plastic offerings of its competitors. The solid metallic body and the hairline crisscross design on the top lid will certainly appeal to most.
On the inside, you’ll get 10.1-inch IPS LCD with 1366 x 768 resolution or equal to 155ppi, 32GB eMMC internal storage, microSD card support up to 64GB, and a full HD webcam. Powering it is a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z3745 quad-core CPU, 2GB RAM, and Windows 8.1 OS.
The Acer Aspire Switch 10 may be smaller and less powerful than some of the regular-sized notebook currently out but it is lighter and more portable. Great for those who require some decent productivity power while on the road.
