THE NUMBERS SURPRISED MANY, especially since the million-person march was never really an organized affair in the same way that many protest marches at the Luneta were, whether these were religious or political affairs in support or against the personality in power.
Yet when they came, they came in the hundreds of thousands, braving the leaden skies and the threat of rain; more than anything, they came even though most of them never really belonged to any formal organization or group. They were just there because they wanted the pork removed for good – not renamed, not rechristened, not resurrected in some new fangled acronym.
