Philips breaks away from conventional TV design with the announcement of the DesignLine HDTV that leans on your wall.
Manufactured by TP Vision, the DesignLine HDTV is a sleek living room companion that features a display mounted with one seamless, gradient black sheet of glass. In standby mode, the TV’s frameless glass front displays a smooth, translucent flow from black opaque to transparent, which becomes invisible when watching TV.
What separates the DesignLine HDTV from other TVs is that it is designed to lean casually on your wall instead of being mounted or placed on a base. “We really wanted to move away from the current product language used in TV design,” says designer Frank Rettenbaher. The DesignLine HDTV comes in 46-inch and 55-inch models that sport Philip’s Perfect Pixel HD engine, 3D and WiFi capabilities, as well as the Ambilight 3-sided XL which projects light that precisely matches the colour of the on-screen content on to the wall behind it. No details on pricing but it is set to arrive in the UK in June.
