Huawei launching Ascend D Quad XL, G600 tomorrow

Huawei Philippines is set to launch their very first quad-core Android smartphone in the market tomorrow at the SM North EDSA (SM Activity Center). Both the Huawei Ascend D Quad XL and the Ascend G600 will be launched that day.

We’ve also been invited by folks from Huawei to talk about their new phones since we were able to secure demo units of the D Quad XL and G600 ahead of time.

Of the two handsets, the Ascend D1 Quad XL will be Huawei’s flagship smartphone and be the first one to run a quad-core processor.

The Ascend D Quad XL was announced back in February and sports Huawei’s very own K3V2 quad-core processor which is based on ARM’s Cortex A9 architecture. The chip runs at 1.5GHz (4-cores) and has a 16-core GPU.

Huawei Ascend D Quad XL (U9510E) specs:
4.5″ IPS+ LCD display @ 720×1280 pixels @ 326ppi
Huawei K3V2 1.5GHz quad-core
1GB RAM
8GB internal storage
up to 32GB via microSD card
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 3.0 HS
HSPA+ 21Mbps
8MP autofocus camera w/ dual LED flash
1080p video recording
1.3MP front-facing camera @ 720p
GPS w/ aGPS support
Dolby Mobile 3.0 Plus
2500mAh Li-Ion battery
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Early benchmark results showed that the Huawei’s K3V2 quad-core processor tops most other similar quad-core processors in the market, sometimes even beating the Snapdragon S4 in performance. We still have to do our own benchmarks though, just to be sure. Our early testing using Antutu Benchmark showed a high score of 13,497 while our NenaMark 2 gave it a score of 64.7fps.

Anyway, if you happen to be near the area tomorrow, I will be there to talk more about the Ascend D Quad XL and share some of our initial impressions during the launch. That’s 3:30PM at the SM CyberZone Activity Center in SM North EDSA.
